For the last ten years Stand has worked with Glasgow School of Art on their student recruitment campaigns. Each year their flagship publication acts as a cultural zeitgeist for the art and design community at GSA, and the city it calls home.
This year’s publication, titled ‘Edition’, uses artwork created by S4-S6 students (shown below) from 90 secondary schools. As part of GSA’s Widening Participation Programme the school pupils reinterpreted existing GSA publication artwork.
‘Edition’ celebrates all the unique and individual interpretations of art within GSA. It also seeks to mirror the collaboration between artists across different disciplines within GSA.
The format is designed to encourage reader interaction as they explore the publication’s many layers.
At the GSA Open Day students past, present and future were invited to collaborate on the online ‘Edition Studio’, providing online engagement and user generated social media content. Throughout the day hundreds of users added, subtracted and experimented with the content resulting in a constantly evolving tapestry – reflecting the collaborative culture of GSA.
